304 Stainless

AISI 304 Stainless Steel is a high tensile product suitable for conditions where salt or corossive chemicals are not present. If you are after Marine Grade 316 stainless, go back to the main menu. Our photos often show the 316 variant, all our 304 products are stamped with 304.

When to Choose 304 (Over 316)
  • You are on a budget: 316 is typically 20% to 30% more expensive because it contains molybdenum. 304 saves money on non-critical parts.
  • Everyday, indoor, or mild environments: 304 performs exceptionally well for standard kitchen appliances,  architectural trim, and dry indoor equipment.
  • Fabrication and machining are required: 304 is easier to machine, shape, and weld, whereas 316 is "gummier" and can wear down tools faster.
  • Oxidizing acid environments: 304 performs slightly better in highly oxidizing acid services, such as nitric acid.
